ARCHERY HUNTING IN EMIGRATION CANYON

ARCHERY HUNTING IN EMIGRATION CANYON

Greetings from the Emigration Canyon Community Council (ECCC)!  It has been several years now since Emigration Canyon has been an archery only hunting area for elk and deer.  Our canyon residents are very pleased with the change and there have been fewer hunter-resident conflicts since rifle and muzzle loader hunting was banned.    We hope the archery hunting community has been pleased with this change too.

In the spirit of keeping our lines of communication open with you, the ECCC would like the archery hunting community to be aware of several issues if you do decide to hunt in Emigration Canyon:
  • Please park in designated areas while hunting and do not block the traffic or bike lanes when you are “scoping”, or looking for elk or deer. The Emigration Canyon road is narrow with many blind curves and has lots of traffic.  In addition, the Canyon is a prime recreational biking site.  We need the traffic and bike lanes free of obstruction so motorists and bicyclists can use our Canyon road safely.

  • Research areas in the Canyon in which archery hunting can be accessed.  There are signs and maps posted at the mouth of the Canyon and along the main road that indicate where archery hunting is allowed.   Please be aware that the majority of the Canyon (from the mouth to near the top) is privately owned.  Respect the no trespassing signs posted.
Thank you for being sensitive to these issues and complying with the posted areas in which hunting is allowed.  The ECCC appreciates the strong working relationship that we have with the archery community and we welcome your feedback.
